Time Pass

I realized my last post was at the end of July. Since then I got married and moved to New York. As you can tell a lot has changed for me. I have left the beautiful weather of cali and now I am layered up in 20 degree weather. Things you do for love.

John and I went to Jamaica for our honeymoon. It was so beautiful and relaxing. After our crazy wedding it was so nice to not have to do anything all day. The first day we got there we jumped into the water and wasted the day away. We were there for 7 days. It was a little hard to stay away from everything in the world. By the fourth day was in the Internet cafe checking my emails and reading the news (including perez hilton.com). I would recommend the resort we stayed at Couples - Swept Away Negril.


Since I am not working at the moment my days are spent aimlessly walking around my new house. Wondering where everything is getting adjusted to my new routine. I fill my days with cooking and surprising John with the new recipes I find online. Also I have taken to a new fondness of Oprah. I really wish I was at here favorite things episode. Im mastering the art to DVR. Netflix has been my new friend. Updating my que requesting old movies. Life is good. Im counting down the days to go back to cali for Christmas. CANT WAIT!

Paysam for my Paysam

All I know is http://www.keralarecipes.com is a God send. Who would have ever thought me of all people I would be able to make my favorite Kerala dessert. The one thing I did realize is that it is actually fun to cook for people you love. Watching their faces as the take the first spoonful...waiting for their reaction. At the end them saying the dish was so great. I hope my fiance will feel the thrill of my new "passion for cooking"and he will have a smile after the first bite.

Empires

As I was in Borders Bookstore trying to find my latest read, I stumbled on a book called The Feast of Roses by Indu Sundaresan.

My favorite books are the by desi authors. I took it home Saturday morning and read about 300 pages by dinner. Why was I so consumed with this book? Not only is the base of the story about King Akbar and the Mughal empire http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mughal_Empire

It also has the beginning of the love story between Nur Jahan and Jahangir. It really does go thru the struggle of personal relationships. Who would have guessed that we would have the same issues now as they did in the 1500's. From father and sons fighting, adultery, women not having a say in family issues, the list goes on and on. There is a second novel The twelfth wife which has then ending of their amazing love story. Its a complex story but a great find!
